GVAG has been active for 12 years in the Golden Valley
GOLDEN VALLEY is the website name for the Golden Valley Action Group. The Golden Valley Action Group (GVAG) is registered as a company limited by Guarantee with Community Interest Company status. GVAG has operated since 2007 working to protect the area known as the Golden Valley in Herefordshire, UK and support community and environmental initiatives.
2007 Green Action CIC formed (known as the Golden Valley Environment Group)
Held public meetings about environmental issues
Starts promoting LED light bulbs; members hold market stall in Hay promoting low energy items
Talked to farmers about using fertilisers and the danger of toxins seeping into the river Dore
Held Green Suppers in Village Halls promoting environmental awareness
Develop plans for a cycle track down the Golden Valley, discussing with Hereford Council, Sustrans and local farmers and land holders.
Contacted Parish Councils in the Golden Valley inviting them to discuss Neighbourhood Plans and how green issues can be incorporated
2015 Changed name to Golden Valley Action Group CIC
Supported Colin Lawrence as a candidate in the Golden Valley North Ward County Council election
Successfully campaigned against a planning application to erect two large intensive livestock broiler sheds in the Bage
